Letter X is a quarterly Creative Writing magazine independently published and distributed for free in the Seattle area. We don’t have a mission statement. We only want to make everyone’s day a little better.
News! Letter X will be participating in (pro)text: an independent press fair on Sat, Feb 17th, 2007 from noon to 5pm at the Richard Hugo House in Seattle. (pro)text is hosted by Cranky Literary Journal.

What people are saying about Letter X:
Volume One - X MARKS THE SPOT There's a new literary rag in Seattle that isn’t boring. "Letter X" has a great Kozik cover and some quick toilet reading. It’s free around Seattle and oh so pretty. - Tablet Magazine
Volume Five - Ah, Finally a creative writing journal that doesn't bore me to tears! Letter X features stories, even shorter stories ("flash fiction"), poetry, and personal essays. My favorites are the short stories: Phil Vas's "Silky Manners" lampoons the intersection of celebrity culture and vehement anti-terrorism rhetoric, while Steve Barker's "Friday Night Parking" deals with the frustrating, all-too-familiar task of trying to find a parking spot after a long week at work. The poems also work well here, as they touch on familiar subjects without resorting to condescension. Particular standouts include Rocco Lungariello's "Blonde bangs and Extra Cigarettes" and Brian McGuigan "a poem for shitty gifts." Finally, there's Melanie Pollak's smart personal essay about the ridiculousness of buying in bulk. Honestly, who needs a 10 lb jar of pickles?! Letter X also includes a short feature on Robert Pollard's poetry, as well as illustrations and comics throughout. Recommended. - Andrew Mall, Punk Planet
