| Snow
Plow

If
I were to start over again,
I'd be a four-wheel-drive pick-up truck
and yellow snowplow kind of guy,
wearing black and red checkered flannel,
arms like telephone poles,
letting my father sleep in for a change-
make my mom think there were
two real men in her home.
I'd like to wake up my grandparents
at five A.M. with clutch scraping noises
in their driveway-
go inside for coffee and Italian
cookies from the freezer.
I'd have a much fuller face
and would get by on less than eight
hours of sleep-
if I were to start over again.
